About Fremont
Sometimes referred to as "The People's Republic of Fremont," and at one time a center of the counterculture, Fremont has somewhat gentrified in recent years. The neighborhood remains home to a controversial statue of Lenin. Take a peek under the Aurora Bridge for a sighting of the Troll. The Fremont Flea Market and Summer Solstice Parade are like no other events in town.
Fremont's historic roots are as a mill town. Located just north of Ship Canal and Lake Union, the Seattle city views are spectacular. Fremont has a mix of new townhomes, traditional single-family homes and a few condos. This location is an easy drive to downtown although many locals prefer to ride bikes to work.
Restaurants and boutique shops abound including Dusty Strings, a mecca for acoustic musicians from around the world. Close to Phinney Ridge, Queen Anne, Wallingford and Green Lake, this area has it all close by.
